Young Uzbek conductor Aziz Shokhakimov (1988) won second prize in the Gustav Mahler International Conducting Competition in Bamberg, where his performance with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra opened the door to many European and American orchestras, and the long list is now joined by the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra. He also won first prize in a competition for young conductors within the framework of the Salzburg Festival in 2016.
