The choir and instrumentalists of the Slovenian Philharmonic under the baton of the conductor Jerica Gregorc Bukovec will present a varied programme that includes a selection of choral works by Uroš Krek, Psalms of David by Penderecki and Schnittke’s Voices of Nature, on the one hand, and Grieg’s Four Psalms on the other.
Jerica Gregorc Bukovec graduated at the Academy of music in Ljubljana. As a part of a student exchange she spent a year studying choral conducting in Malmö (Sweden) under Dan-Olof Stenlund. She continued her studies at the Royal academy of music in Stockholm, where she attained her master’s degree under the tutelage of Anders Eby. She continued to study under the same mentor for another year. While studying in Sweden she worked with a group of 16 professional musicians, recorded and held concerts with the Swedish radio choir, performed on concerts with the Berlin radio choir and, in the last two years in Sweden conducted three choirs, the KFUMs Kammerkör, Stockholms Kammarkör and the male choir of Stockholms Studentsångare. For four years after returning to Slovenia she has been the artistic guide of the Chamber choir Ave, worked with the Chamber choir of RTV Slovenija and the Slovenian children’s choir. Since October 2015 she has lead the Academic choir Tone Tomšič of the University of Ljubljana.
On the competition for young choral conductors Europa Cantat in Ljubljana in 2009 she won third place and on the Eric Ericson competition in Stockholm in 2010 made it among the three finalists. She has received many scholarships for her talent, which include four scholarships from Kungliga Musikaliska Akademien in Stockholm, the scholarship of the Ministrstvo za kulturo Republike Slovenije, the scholarship of Glasbena Matica Ljubljana, the Eric Ericson scholarship and the Dan-Olof Stenlund scholarship.
Recently, in September 2016, she has been awarded the special award for best conductor at the International Rimini choral competition.
