Mozart's Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra is an ideal vehicle for a display of the virtuosity of the two piano soloists and their interplay with the sumptuous orchestral ensemble. On this occasion, we will hear two excellent pianists: Ithamar Golan, a lecturer of chamber music at the Paris Conservatory, and his former student Danijel Detoni, who is currently a teacher at the Zagreb Academy.
The two pianists will perform under the baton of Hungarian conductor György Győriványi Ráth, who is well known to our audience – in the previous season, he garnered success with the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra and Dubravka Tomšič Srebotnjak in the Gallus Hall.
Bartók’s opus is vast and diverse, but his works share (among other things) an exceptional level of complexity, which demand of the performer not only technical excellence, but also a high degree of inventiveness and a sense of the exotic, the popular, the humorous. Bartók’s one-act opera Bluebeard’s Castle provides an opportunity for two more Hungarian musicians – mezzo-soprano Andrea Meláth and baritone Ádám Horváth have both responded positively to the conductor’s invitation.
