Bartók’s opus is vast and diverse, but his works share (among other things) an exceptional level of complexity, which demand of the performer not only technical excellence, but also a high degree of inventiveness and a sense of the exotic, the popular, the humorous. The Concerto for Two Pianos, Percussion and Orchestra is an ideal vehicle for a display of the virtuosity of the two piano soloists and their interplay with the sumptuous orchestral ensemble. On this occasion, we will hear two excellent pianists: Ithamar Golan, a lecturer of chamber music at the Paris Conservatory, and his former student Danijel Detoni, who is currently a teacher at the Zagreb Academy.

.

The two pianists will perform under the baton of Hungarian conductor György Győriványi Ráth, who is well known to our audience – in the previous season, he garnered success with the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra and Dubravka Tomšič Srebotnjak in the Gallus Hall. Bartók’s one-act opera Bluebeard’s Castle provides an opportunity for two more Hungarian musicians – mezzo-soprano Andrea Meláth and baritone Ádám Horváth have both responded positively to the conductor’s invitation.
