The Signum Saxophone Quartet comprises four young masters of their instrument, exceptional musicians, friends and kindred spirits and, ultimately, four saxophone voices intertwining and blending to make a single yet subtly nuanced soundscape. Formed in 2006, the dynamic ensemble is bursting with energy, creative curiosity and talent. Performing in a new line-up since 2016, Blaž Kemperle and Alan Lužar (Slovenia), Erik Nestler (Germany) and Guerino Bellarosa (Italy) have been enthralling the audiences with their astounding musicality, variegated sonic palette, dynamism and sheer joy of music-making. A very special achievement was the ECHO Rising Stars 2014/2015 award, which took Signum to such prestigious concert halls as the Carnegie Hall in New York, Concertgebouw Amsterdam and the recently opened Elbphilharmonie Hamburg. Signum are constantly searching for new ideas, groundbreaking challenges and intriguing artistic encounters. Their experimental versatility is reflected in their extraordinary programmes; the four young musicians can be heard in classical quartet formations and continue to create exciting, never before heard joint arrangements with inspiring soundscapes. The quartet, which also boasts its own educational programme for elementary school students, has inspired numerous composers.
