Kazakh conductor Alan Buribayev is by no means alien to our environment. The former student of Uroš Lajovic at the University of Vienna has performed successfully at the Lovro von Matačić Conducting Competition in Zagreb and has already presented himself to Ljubljana listeners with the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, at a concert for Jeunesses Musicales Slovenia in November 2003. Buribayev currently works as the principal conductor of the opera theatre in Astana and as the principal guest conductor of the Japan Century Symphony Orchestra of Osaka. On this occasion, his interpretation of the standard Russian repertoire will be supplemented by a classic Slovenian work of our own time by Janez Matičič.
The performance of Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano Concerto will feature the outstanding, world-renowned Macedonian pianist Simon Trpčeski. The technical perfection and musicality of his interpretations have led him to appearances with prestigious orchestras, such as the London, New York and Los Angeles Philharmonics and the Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra, with conductors such as Vladimir Ashkenazy, Gustavo Dudamel and Lorin Maazel.
